David James Hemphill was born November 21st, 1989 in La Grange, Illinois, the son of Mark Hemphill and Sharon Rader Hemphill. David came home just in time for Thanksgiving on November 24th.
In June of 1991, the family relocated to Aledo where David attended the YMCA Children's School and Aledo public schools through 2008 when he graduated high school, the second to last generation of Aledo Green Dragons.
David bravely battled various illnesses throughout his life including asthma, anxiety, depression, anemia, and ulcerative colitis.
David was employed first with McDonald's from 2009-2010, Farmer's State Bank of Western Illinois from 2016-2022, Huffman's Farm and Home from 2020 until 2024, Ferg's Public House in 2024, and finally with Walmart from 2024 until his death.
In his spare time David enjoyed collecting and listening to records, shopping for antiques, playing video games, learning about local history, listening to podcasts, writing and exploring ideas, reading, improving his home, enjoying the outdoors, trying to grow closer to God, and sipping Johnnie Walker around the fire.
David was a proud member of the NRA, ISRA, GOA, Clan Cunningham Society of America, Mercer County Historical Society (and board member), Mercer County Community Band, Mercer County Housing Authority as Chairman, and the Pope Creek Candor Cemetery Association.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, sisters Heather (Cyrus) Anderson, Kristie (Chris) Hubbard, Kathy (Ben) Regnier, and brother Mark Alan (Kayla) Hemphill, as well as several close friends and relatives.
Those preceding David in death are his four namesakes: uncle David Rader, great-grandfather David Candor, paternal grandfather James (JW / Jim Hemphill), and maternal grandfather James "Bud" Rader as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
